Diversity Block Party & Culture Shock
Diversity Festival during Alberta Culture Days
In line with Alberta’s Culture Days, the Genesis Centre is hosting a Diversity Festival, organized by Canadian Cultural Mosaic Foundation and Antyx Community Arts, to recognize our city’s cultural diversity, taking place on Saturday, September 30th, 2017.
On Saturday, September 30th, the Genesis Centre is hosting a Diversity Festival, in conjunction with Canadian Cultural Mosaic Foundation and Antyx Community Arts. As a signature Culture Days event, this event will feature an opportunity for all Calgarians to engage in cultural learning with over 30 cultural booths. An entirely free event, there will be a variety of kids friendly cultural activities, ethnic performances and ethnic foods.
In times of growing racist rhetoric, this is an important event that brings communities together and gives a fun and educational opportunity for all Calgarians to learn about our community.
The event will run from 12:00pm to 5:00pm and will be followed by “Culture Shock” lead by grassroots organization Antyx Community Arts. The Culture Shock component of the event will showcase youth breakdancing. As a competition, each performance will be judged by youth ambassadors, and a wining dance group will be crowned.
Taking place in the Commons, several communities will be brought together to share their culture and represent the diversity within our city. Throughout the program, there will be ample video and photo opportunities.
