Amar Bengla with Jay Chodhary – Saturdays 9-10pm
We recently had a chance to speak with Jayanta, host of RED FM’s Bengali show. Here’s what jay had to say:
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it Superman? No, but even better, I’m Jay! A dude whose life is like an Indian blockbuster filled with songs, “masala” (spice), action, comedy, drama and suspense. This “blockbuster” is my show and releases every Saturday from 9PM-12PM.
I was born and raised in Kolkata, graduated in Economics from Scottish Church College, and then went on to achieve a Diploma in Mass Communication and Broadcasting from Xavier Institute of Communication and Broadcasting. I Moved to Canada more than a decade ago and currently work as an Accountant and Payroll Manager when I’m not on the air. I am blessed with three boys, Sayan, Arpan and Rohan who keep me busy every second of the day.
As a Broadcaster what do you do at the show?
I want to ensure that we are reflecting ethnic diversity. Media is an excellent way to bring the communities closer together. As my show brings listeners from both Bangladesh and India, it unites people from both of the countries, interrogating them into one culture, uplifting Bengali Heritage. My aim is to raise awareness within our community about prominent issues, as I am dedicated to this cause.
Tell us about your Bangla Show?
The format of the show makes me a magician who mesmerizes the city of Calgary through my sheer energy! All jokes aside, the show consists of music, talk shows, cooking, gardening, Canadian politics and much, much more.
Do you have anything to say in closing?
Live life to its best. Be blessed, and bless others.
