RED FM News Team

The RED FM News Team sources Canadian and international news every day, producing hourly news bulletins in Hindi and Punjabi.

The RED FM Calgary News Team is comprised of the following members:


Rishi Nagar

Rishi Nagar has been a teacher and a journalist and presently the News Director at Red FM 106.7 Calgary.

Graduated from the Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar (India) in Arts and followed with his studies in English Literature, Rishi Nagar earned his B.Ed from the same university.

After serving as a Lecturer in English Literature and as Principal of a college in Punjab, Rishi switched his career to journalism. He served as a journo for more than seven years. He also joined the Indira Gandhi National Open University as a Lecturer in English and served the post-graduate department for five years.

Rishi moved to Canada in 2009 as a landed immigrant and joined the South Asian Broadcasting Corp; Red FM 93.1 in Surrey, BC as a News Broadcaster and Host.

Opportunity arose and he was transferred to Calgary in 2013 as News Director and Host of the ‘Good Morning Calgary’. Rishi has been appointed as a Senator, University of Calgary with effect from July1, 2018 for 3 consecutive years.

He lives in Calgary with his wife, Renu and an adult son, Amiteshwar.


Amanjot Pannu

Amanjot Pannu was born in 1977 in Amritsar. He’s originally hailing from a small village named Sarafkot near Fatehgarh Churian of District Gurdaspur. Aman, a non-media background person studied at Khalsa College Amritsar, S L Bawa DAV College Batala & did his Masters in English from DAV College, Amritsar. Further, he completed his Higher Diploma in Cooperative Management from Regional Institute of Cooperative Management, Chandigarh.

After having a short stint as a teacher, Aman joined Cellular Service Provider Airtel at Chandigarh, he became a part of Cooperative Department of Punjab in 2006 & further migrated to Canada in 2012.

Amanjot joined the news department at Red FM in April 2018. He is a firm believer of life with challenges & as per his belief “Accepting New Challenges Makes Me Come Alive”.


Maninder Garewal

Maninder’s journey as a broadcaster began during her university days doing news bulletins for a Montreal based radio station. After completing a Post-Graduate in Journalism & Mass Communication, she began teaching as an assistant professor. Maninder taught in various institutes for 7 years, all the while keeping the writer and broadcaster in her alive by working with All India Radio Jalandhar and contributing as a column writer for Punjabi Tribune.
Maninder immigrated to Canada in 2013 and soon began working with Red FM Calgary. Maninder’s Red FM journey started as the host of the show “Red Geet Mala”, as well as a News Reader and Creative Writer, but her heart was always in the news room. “News is what she always wanted to do fulltime.”


Ramanjit Sidhu

Ramanjit was born into a family of journalists and writers, he is privileged to bequeath the rich heritage which has helped him survive in the world of printed media and now on the air waves.
Before acquiring his master’s degree in Journalism, Ramanjit had a short stint at The Indian Express, working as a young reporter, where he got a real taste of journalism. After completing his degree, he worked at The Tribune and later in 2010, joined Hindustan Times.

After moving to Canada, Ramanjit joined RED FM as a news reporter and soon began hosting shows as well. Raman is currently also the host of “The Sunday Show” every Sunday from 4-6 pm. You can also listen to Raman every Tuesday and Wednesday, from 7-8 pm on “The Evening Show”, where he discusses current affairs of the day and analyses news stories that matter.
