RED FM Presents “Shinaneuntoyoil” Every Saturday 8-9 PM
We had an opportunity to speak with Anna Jun, founder and producer of RED FM’s Korean show, “Shinaneuntoyoil”. The following is our conversation:
Tell us about yourself, where are you from and when did you come to Calgary?
I am originally from South Korea, but I went to University in London, England, then moved to Canada in 2000. In Korea I served as a senior trade and investing officer at an embassy. At present, I own an education consulting company for international students in Calgary.
What is your show all about? What can we expect when we tune your show in?
Our show features different co-hosts, depending on the week which creates variety but our show model is always the same. We always play Korean music, we often have live guests, we always feature local news, and a Korean weekly news report. We play trendy music like Psy’s “Gangnam Style” as well as traditional Korean folk music. We try to serve and help the local Korean Community in as many ways as possible.
Tell us about your community in Calgary?
The Korean community in Calgary consists of about 18,000 people. There are various associations in Calgary such as the Calgary Korean Association, Calgary Korean Women’s Association, Calgary Korean Lions Club, Calgary Korean Senior’s Association, Calgary Korea Scholarship Foundation, Korean Art Club and many more. Koreans are hard-working people and many own small to medium size businesses like grocery stores, gas stations, cafeterias, hotels, golf courses etcetera. Koreans have a very friendly nature and we like to pay special attention to our children’s education.
Is there anything that you would like to say in closing?
I would like to say thank you to RED FM for giving us an opportunity to promote Korean cultural identity in Calgary. We are also excited to share our Korean culture with all Calgarians, regardless of origin.
Shinaneuntoyoil airs every Saturday from 8-9 PM on RED FM.
