Calgary, Alberta _ Airports across Canada are gradually returning to normal operations after several facilities received bomb threats early Thursday morning.

Nav Canada, the country’s air traffic control agency, confirmed that the threats impacted airports in Ottawa, Montreal, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Calgary, and Vancouver. The situation prompted temporary disruptions, including brief ground stops at Montreal and Ottawa airports, which were lifted around 7:40 a.m., according to U.S. Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson Kevin Morris.

Nav Canada shared on social media that services are slowly being restored following the evacuation of several of its sites and subsequent threat evaluations by authorities. “We appreciate the patience of airlines and travellers as we work to resume full operations,” the agency said.

Transport Canada spokesperson Hicham Ayoun stated the department is coordinating with Nav Canada, airport authorities, and local law enforcement to fully investigate the threats.

Ayoun added that while operations are stabilizing, some flight delays may still occur over the coming hours due to the earlier disruptions.
