The Palestinian Health Ministry reported Monday that over 62,000 Palestinians have been killed during the 22-month-long war in Gaza.

In the past 24 hours alone, at least 60 people lost their lives, bringing the total death toll to 62,004 since the conflict began on October 7, 2023. An additional 156,230 individuals have been injured.

According to the ministry, 1,965 people have been killed while trying to access humanitarian aid or near aid distribution points. At least seven Palestinians died Monday morning in such attempts.

While the ministry does not separate civilian and combatant deaths in its tally, its figures are considered the most credible by the United Nations and other international observers. Israel disputes the numbers but has not released alternative casualty figures.

In related developments, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on Monday condemned Israel’s reported plans to forcibly relocate Palestinians outside of Gaza. Speaking at the Egypt-Gaza border, Abdelatty said Egypt and Qatar are actively working to revive U.S.-backed ceasefire negotiations.

Mediators are pushing for a 60-day truce, during which Israel and Hamas would aim to negotiate an end to the ongoing war.
