With Calgary’s municipal election less than two months away, Elections Calgary is calling on thousands of workers to help ensure the voting process runs smoothly.

Applications for election worker positions officially opened on Wednesday.

“Elections Calgary is seeking individuals who are community-minded, customer-focused, and interested in supporting the democratic process,” said Kate Martin, Returning Officer for the City of Calgary. “Election workers play a key role in ensuring voting is compliant with legislation, accessible, and efficient.”

All positions are paid, and additional stand-by workers will be hired to ensure full staffing during both the advance vote and election day.

Applicants do not need to be Canadian citizens, but must be legally eligible to work in Canada and at least 16 years old.

Selected workers will need to attend a mandatory training session in September or October and must be available for long shifts during the advance vote (Oct. 6–11) and/or on election day (Oct. 20).
