CKYR 106.7 RED FM, Calgary’s No. 1 ethnic radio station, successfully hosted its annual Radiothon on November 5, 2025, in honour of Gurpurab, the birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the First Sikh Guru.

Funds raised through the Radiothon will support Guru Nanak Dev Ji Vision Clinic at Alberta Children’s Hospital to purchase RetCam. This advanced retinal imaging system captures high-resolution, wide-angle images of the eye that are essential for diagnosing and monitoring premature babies at risk of blindness, children with rare genetic or metabolic disorders, and those with eye injuries or tumours, among other conditions. A new RetCam will give experts the clarity, speed and precision they need to detect problems earlier, intervene sooner and protect the precious gift of sight for hundreds of young patients each year.

RED FM does not retain any portion of the donations. 100% of the funds collected during the radiothon are for the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation.

“We are truly grateful for this incredible generosity that represents so much more than dollars — it represents hope for thousands of children and families at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.” “Thank you to every listener who called or dropped off a donation and to the entire REDFM team for rallying the community. Because of all of you, more children will benefit from the best care possible and grow up to achieve their highest potential.”

– Saifa Koonar, President and CEO of the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation.

“Whenever we ask for help for a charitable cause, our community always responds with generosity. At RED FM, the Gurupurab Radiothon is a highlight of our year.”

–  Kulwinder Sanghera, President, RED FM
