Calgary is making several service adjustments for Remembrance Day to support commemorations and ease access to key events across the city.
Calgary Transit will run on a Saturday schedule Tuesday, and parking will be free in all on-street ParkPlus zones. Weekend rates will apply in city parkades and surface lots. Partner-operated lots — including the Calgary Stampede, TELUS Spark, the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo, and Heritage Park — will maintain regular pricing.
Veterans can ride transit for free by presenting a uniform or veteran identification. Vehicles with veteran licence plates will also receive free parking in all city-owned surface lots and parkades. The Calgary Parking Contact Centre and Impound Lot will be closed for the day.
Road closures will be in effect for commemorative events. Memorial Drive will be closed between 4 Street NE and 10 Street NW from 9 a.m. to noon for the Field of Crosses ceremony. Crews working on the Sunnyside Flood Barrier are coordinating with organizers to maintain access and parking near the site. Additional closures around Central Memorial Park will occur from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the Calgary Highlanders Remembrance Day parade.
