A Calgary couple is facing criminal charges after police allege they operated a fraudulent travel business that scammed would-be vacationers out of thousands of dollars.

The investigation began in August 2025 after a woman reported losing $1,900 to a travel agent working under the name I.N TravelPh. According to police, the agent had agreed by text message to book a vacation package on July 18, 2025. When the woman later contacted the resort to confirm her booking, she was told no reservation or payment had been received.

Police say the woman made several attempts to obtain a refund, but was unsuccessful. Additional complaints about the same travel agent were reported later that month, prompting a broader investigation.

Authorities allege victims from across Canada and the Philippines paid for vacation packages and airfare that were never booked. In most cases, payments were requested through e-transfer. After sending the money, victims allegedly received no confirmation of travel arrangements and were unable to recover their funds.

Police estimate the total financial loss at more than $200,000. Four victims based in Calgary alone reported combined losses of approximately $17,000.

Charges have now been laid, and the investigation remains ongoing. Police are urging anyone who believes they may have been affected to come forward.
