The Alberta government reports that the province now has more primary care providers than ever, with a redesigned online platform to help residents find doctors, nurse practitioners, and registered midwives.

As of December 31, 2025, Alberta had 6,362 family doctors and 1,137 nurse practitioners holding active licenses—both all-time highs, according to officials. More than 800 of these healthcare professionals are currently accepting new patients, including roughly 400 in Calgary and over 200 in Edmonton.

The province also highlights that about 84 per cent of adults have a regular healthcare provider, among the highest rates in Canada.

The newly launched “Alberta Find a Provider” website replaces the previous version and offers enhanced search tools, allowing residents to locate primary care providers in their communities quickly and easily.
