A series of internal reports has raised serious concerns about workplace culture at the Canada Border Services Agency, revealing that inappropriate sexual comments were tolerated and filing official complaints was often discouraged.
Previously unreleased documents detail numerous instances in which female employees were subjected to degrading comments and sexually inappropriate behavior over extended periods, frequently by superiors or more experienced colleagues. One report described a superintendent explicitly requesting sexual favors from two female subordinates, while other reports cited incidents of unwanted touching.
The seven reports, covering complaints from 2023 to 2025, focused solely on sexual harassment allegations, most of which were substantiated. The documents do not provide details on any sanctions imposed against the employees found to have breached the agency’s code of conduct.
The revelations have prompted questions about accountability and workplace safety within the agency, highlighting a need for stronger protections for employees and clearer enforcement of conduct standards.
