The Alberta New Democratic Party has officially confirmed its first five nominated candidates as it begins assembling its team for the next provincial election.
Over the past week, the party nominated candidates in several key ridings across Alberta, including Edmonton and Calgary.
The confirmed candidates are:
- Sarah Hoffman for Edmonton-Glenora on March 3
- Samir Kayande for Calgary-Elbow on March 4
- Peggy Wright for Edmonton-Beverly-Clareview on March 5
- Lizette Tejada for Calgary-Klein on March 6
- Julia Hayter for Calgary-Edgemont on March 7
Party leader Naheed Nenshi said the nominations mark the start of the party’s preparation for the next campaign.
“The Alberta NDP is ready for the next campaign. These first five nominated candidates are strong MLAs and proven community leaders. I’m thrilled to have them on the team,” Nenshi said in a statement.
