Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has expressed skepticism over Donald Trump’s recent threat to raise tariffs on Canadian goods, suggesting it wouldn’t benefit the U.S. and could potentially harm Canada’s economy.

Smith took to social media on Friday morning to share her thoughts after Trump posted a letter on his Truth Social platform, warning of a possible 35% tariff on Canadian products.

The threatened increase to U.S. tariffs on Canadians goods would be a tax on the American people. They would also hurt Canadian and American businesses and workers, and damage one of the most important trading and security alliances on earth.
