Boil-water advisories affecting several northwest Calgary neighbourhoods have been lifted, as crews continue repairs on a major watermain that supplies most of the city with drinking water.
The advisories had been in place since Dec. 30 for nearly 3,000 residents in Parkdale, Montgomery, Point McKay, and West Hillhurst, following the rupture of the Bearspaw South Feeder Main. The City of Calgary says recent water testing—conducted in partnership with Alberta Health Services and Alberta Environment and Protected Areas—confirms the water now meets safety standards.
Residents who have not used their taps in the past 24 hours are advised to flush their home water systems before use.
While the advisories are no longer in effect, city officials continue to urge Calgarians to conserve water as repairs remain ongoing. On Saturday, citywide water consumption reached 495 million litres, exceeding the conservation target of 485 million litres.
“With the first Monday of 2026 marking a return to work and school for many Calgarians, we’re reminding everyone to adjust their water-use habits and help protect our water system,” said Calgary Emergency Management Agency Chief Susan Henry in a news release Sunday.
City officials say continued conservation is essential to ensure demand does not outpace supply while repair work continues.
