Calgary welcomed millions of visitors this year, with tourism officials predicting even stronger numbers ahead.
A new report from Tourism Calgary, released Tuesday, shows the city experienced a “record-breaking lead up to the summer season,” with key indicators such as visitor spending, hotel occupancy and inbound flights all surpassing 2024 levels.
“This year, every quadrant of our city has been alive with activity and these results prove that Calgary is benefiting from the investments made into convention space and place-making projects in our city, as well as from the work our team is doing to promote leisure travel and attract major events and conferences,” said Alisha Reynolds, president and CEO of Tourism Calgary.
The report highlights notable monthly increases in visitor spending: 8.8 per cent in May, 22.9 per cent in June, 2.1 per cent in July and 1.7 per cent in August.
Officials point to major events—including the G7 Summit, the Rotary International Convention and the Calgary Stampede—as key drivers of this year’s tourism boom.
