A worker at a southeast Calgary nail salon is facing a sexual assault charge after police say a client was assaulted during a waxing service earlier this year.
According to the Calgary Police Service, the incident took place on Friday, Jan. 9, at Shawnessy Nails Time Spa, located at 140-70 Shawville Boulevard S.E.
Investigators allege that during the appointment, the employee performing the waxing service touched the client in a sexual manner without her consent.
Following an investigation, 41-year-old Thanh True Tran, who is also known as Kayla, has been charged with one count of sexual assault. Tran is scheduled to appear in court in April.
Police remind the public that in Canada there is no statute of limitations for reporting sexual assault. Authorities encourage anyone who believes they have been a victim — regardless of how much time has passed — to come forward.
