Calgary police are seeking witnesses in connection to two cannabis store robberies that took place in the city’s northwest this month.
The first robbery occurred on Wednesday, August 13, around noon at Tower Cannabis, located at 159 Carrington Plaza NW. According to investigators, two male suspects—believed to be teenagers—entered the store wearing face coverings.
They allegedly assaulted the employee and threatened him with a firearm before stealing an undisclosed amount of product. The suspects then fled the scene in an unknown vehicle.
The second incident took place a week later, on Tuesday, August 20, shortly after 5:10 p.m., at Canna Cabana, located at 101 Sage Valley Common NW. In this case, five male teens entered the store, all wearing face coverings and gloves.
Two of the suspects were reportedly armed with handguns. Police say they threatened both an employee and a customer before forcing the employee to open the cash register. The group then fled in a red SUV with an unknown quantity of cash and cannabis products.
Witnesses described the suspects in the second robbery as tall males with dark skin tones. Investigators have not yet determined if the two incidents are related.
Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the robberies, has dashcam footage from the area, or can identify the suspects to contact them in order to assist with the investigation.
