Calgary, Alberta _ A once-prominent player in Calgary’s thriving tech sector, Attabotics, has filed for bankruptcy protection, marking a dramatic downturn for the warehouse robotics firm.

Earlier this week, the company abruptly laid off the majority of its workforce. Attabotics, which claimed to employ over 300 people on its website, had positioned itself as a cutting-edge disruptor in supply chain automation, using robotics to manage inventory in vertically designed warehouses.

Despite attracting substantial investment and financial backing from both private and public sectors, the company is now facing a possible collapse. Among its supporters were the federal government, the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, and the City of Calgary, which contributed $4.5 million through its Opportunity Calgary Investment Fund.
