The Royal Canadian Numismatic Association (RCNA) convention is underway in Calgary, bringing together coin enthusiasts from across the country for six days of exhibits, auctions, seminars, and social events.

Running through July 20 at the Coast Plaza Hotel and Conference Centre, organizers say this year’s convention is the largest coin show ever held in Canada.

“This year’s convention gives the numismatic community a chance to come together, share knowledge, and celebrate our rich heritage,” said James A. Williston, chair of the 2025 event.

The convention’s bustling bourse floor — a marketplace for buying, selling, and trading coins, paper money, and related collectibles — features 75 dealer tables with vendors from across the country.

The event also includes a series of expert-led seminars, competitive and non-competitive exhibits, and a youth program designed to spark interest among young collectors. The Royal Canadian Mint has a booth on-site, offering a closer look at its latest products and services.

Attendees can also enjoy guided tours of local attractions, social events, and the RCNA’s annual banquet and awards ceremony.

The convention is open to the public, and organizers encourage everyone — from seasoned numismatists to curious newcomers — to explore Canada’s rich coin-collecting culture.
