A member of the Canadian Armed Forces has been arrested and charged following a joint investigation into foreign interference and the handling of sensitive information.
Master Warrant Officer Matthew Robar, who serves with the Canadian Forces Intelligence Command, is facing several charges under the National Defence Act and other legislation.
According to a news release from the Department of National Defence, the charges include communicating special operational information, breach of trust, and feigning illness. The arrest resulted from a joint operation involving military police and the RCMP.
The investigation, which began in 2024, focused on the alleged unauthorized sharing of protected information with a foreign entity. If the case moves forward, it will be prosecuted through the military justice system.
