Calgary, Alberta _ More moderate temperatures are forecast for parts of central and southern Alberta on Thursday, bringing some relief after several days of intense heat. However, the southeast corner of the province is in for one more day of unseasonably high temperatures.

Heat warnings that were in effect Wednesday for much of east-central and southeastern Alberta—including Calgary, Red Deer, and Edmonton—have now been lifted along the QEII corridor as temperatures begin to cool. Southeastern Alberta, however, remains under a warning, with daytime highs expected to climb into the low 30s.

On Wednesday, thunderstorms swept through central and southern parts of the province, with some quickly strengthening into supercells.

Storm chasers reported a possible tornado touching down near Drayton Valley around 5:30 p.m., though Environment and Climate Change Canada has yet to confirm the sighting.
