A powerful thunderstorm swept through Calgary on Sunday evening, bringing strong winds, heavy rain, and large hail. Several warning were issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada, cautioning residents about the risk of golf ball-sized hail and intense wind gusts.
The northern parts of the city appear to have been hit the hardest. A similar hailstorm struck Calgary in August 2024, causing an estimated $3.25 billion in damages — making it the second costliest natural disaster in Canadian history.
