Tensions in the Middle East have sharply escalated after Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, warned that Israel “will pay” for a series of targeted killings of senior Iranian officials.

According to Iranian authorities, three high-ranking security figures were assassinated within two days, including Intelligence Minister Esmaeil Khatib. Tehran has blamed Israel for the attacks, describing them as a direct act of aggression against the state.

In response, Iran’s powerful military wing, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, issued a stark warning, threatening to strike oil and gas infrastructure across the Gulf region. Potential targets mentioned include facilities in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, raising fears of a broader regional conflict that could disrupt global energy markets.

The threat follows reports of an الإسرائيلي strike on Iran’s South Pars gas field — one of the world’s largest natural gas reserves — further intensifying the standoff between the two adversaries.

Meanwhile, Israeli military operations have continued in Lebanon, where ongoing airstrikes have reportedly killed more than 20 people in recent attacks. The escalating violence has deepened concerns of a widening conflict involving multiple fronts across the region.

Analysts warn that the situation is increasingly volatile, with the potential for rapid escalation if retaliatory threats are carried out. Global leaders have yet to respond in a unified manner, as calls grow for restraint and de-escalation to prevent a wider war.
