Motorists travelling along 16 Avenue N.W. should prepare for delays this weekend as the City of Calgary carries out additional repair work on the Bearspaw feeder main.

In a news release issued Friday, the City of Calgary said precautionary steps are being taken around two sections of the feeder main where crews have identified increased deterioration. Officials noted that each of the affected pipe segments has recently experienced one new wire snap.

To allow crews to safely complete the work, traffic will be redirected around the impacted areas.

The westbound exit ramp from 16 Avenue N.W. to Sarcee Trail will be closed, with drivers detoured to 29 Avenue N.W. instead.

City officials say the detour will remain in effect until further notice while repairs are underway.
