Calgary, Alberta- Calgary’s aerospace sector reached new heights today as Lufthansa Technik (LHT), a global leader in aircraft maintenance and repair, broke ground on its $120 million Canadian headquarters and test cell facility at Calgary International Airport.

The investment establishes Calgary as a rising aerospace hub, backed by its strategic location, strong talent pool, and collaborative ecosystem. “Having Lufthansa Technik’s Canadian hub in Calgary showcases how our city is stepping up to deliver solutions for the global aerospace sector,” said Brad Parry, President and CEO of Calgary Economic Development and the Opportunity Calgary Investment Fund (OCIF).

Years of strategic engagement and collaboration helped secure LHT’s investment. The facility will feature Canada’s first test cell capable of handling next-generation engines and alternative fuels. Supported by $2.5 million from OCIF, the project is expected to create 160 high-skilled jobs by 2030.

“This facility is not just an investment in infrastructure, but in people and the future of aviation in the region,” said Max Schramm, President and CEO of Lufthansa Technik Canada.

The facility builds on OCIF’s broader strategy to strengthen Calgary’s aerospace ecosystem, aligning education, innovation, and talent. With Alberta’s aerospace sector projected to hit $4.73 billion by 2030, Calgary is firmly positioning itself at the center of global growth.
