Alberta Health Services (AHS) has confirmed another case of measles exposure in a public setting.

According to AHS, an individual with a confirmed case of measles visited the Real Canadian Superstore on Veterans Blvd N.E. in Airdrie on Sunday, July 7, between 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. while infectious.

AHS is advising anyone who was at the store during that time and was born in or after 1970—and has received fewer than two documented doses of a measles-containing vaccine—that they may be at risk of contracting the virus.

“These individuals should closely monitor themselves for symptoms of measles and are strongly encouraged to review their immunization history,” AHS said in a statement.

Measles symptoms can include:

  • Fever
  • Cough, runny nose, and/or red eyes
  • A red blotchy rash that typically begins behind the ears and on the face, spreading down the body to the arms and legs three to seven days after the fever starts

Anyone who develops symptoms is urged to stay home and call the measles hotline at 1-844-944-3434 before visiting any health-care provider, including walk-in clinics, family doctors, or pharmacies.
