As of today, five Canadian provinces have raised their minimum wage rates in an effort to help workers cope with growing affordability challenges.

The provinces implementing the increases are Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. These adjustments are tied to the consumer price index (CPI) — a key measure of inflation — to ensure wage growth keeps pace with the rising cost of living.

Here are the new minimum wage rates:

  • Ontario: $17.60/hour
  • Nova Scotia: $16.50/hour
  • Prince Edward Island: $16.50/hour
  • Manitoba: $16.00/hour
  • Saskatchewan: $15.35/hour

With no recent increase, Alberta now has the lowest minimum wage in the country at $15.00 per hour.

Other provinces — British Columbia, Quebec, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland and Labrador — had already introduced wage hikes earlier this year.
