With the 2025 Calgary Stampede now wrapped up, construction activity is ramping back up in the city’s Culture and Entertainment District.
Starting Monday, work will continue on several major projects, including the redevelopment of Stampede Trail, infrastructure upgrades across the district, preparations for a new hotel at Stampede Park, and Scotia Place — the future home of the Calgary Flames.
As construction progresses, drivers and pedestrians can expect ongoing changes to access in and around the area for the remainder of the year.
Key impacts include:
- Closure of 12 Avenue and Stampede Trail S.E.
- Intermittent closures on Flores LaDue Parade
To help manage traffic flow, the City of Calgary has outlined several detour options:
- For 12 Avenue and Stampede Trail S.E.:
- 11 Avenue S.E. will temporarily operate as a two-way street between 3rd Street and Olympic Way S.E.
- Pedestrians will be rerouted via a temporary pathway on the east side of Cowboys Casino or can use the sidewalk along 5A Street S.E.
- Vehicle access will be limited to 5A Street S.E.
City officials advise residents and visitors to plan ahead, allow for extra travel time, and follow all posted signage and directions from on-site personnel.
