Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has issued a formal response to the recall petition launched against her last week, emphasizing her commitment to the constituents of Brooks–Medicine Hat.

The petition, filed on Dec. 3 by a Medicine Hat resident, prompted Smith to send a letter to Chief Electoral Officer Gordon McClure on Dec. 9 expressing her dedication to her role and her community.

“It is an honour to serve the people of Brooks–Medicine Hat,” Smith wrote, adding that she makes a consistent effort to stay connected with residents. “I regularly make myself available to meet with constituents and I routinely host town halls across my riding.”

Smith said she is “proud” to represent the region in the legislature and relies on the feedback she receives from community members to help guide government decision-making.

In her response, the premier also highlighted several initiatives her government has undertaken in the constituency, including the JBS–Highway 873 connection project, investments in new and modernized schools in Brooks, and upgrades to health-care facilities in both Brooks and Medicine Hat.
