Prime Minister Mark Carney is in Terrace, B.C., on Thursday to announce the latest round of major projects being submitted for potential fast-track approval through the federal government’s Major Projects Office.

According to a senior Ontario government source who spoke with The Canadian Press, the Crawford Nickel Project in northern Ontario will be among the initiatives included in the announcement.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford welcomed the inclusion of the project but expressed frustration over delays in advancing other key developments.

“Let’s get out of our way when it comes to the Ring of Fire,” Ford said Wednesday, referring to long-awaited mining projects in northern Ontario. “We need to be talking about large-scale nuclear, and I don’t know if we’re going to hear about that, but that’s a key area we need investment in.”

The federal announcement is part of Carney’s broader effort to streamline approvals for critical resource, energy, and infrastructure projects aimed at boosting Canada’s economic growth and transition to cleaner industries.
