Hogan, born Terry Gene Bollea, was found unresponsive at his home in Clearwater, Florida, on Thursday morning. Emergency responders arrived following a report of cardiac arrest. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital, according to the Clearwater Police Department.

His longtime manager, Chris Volo, confirmed that Hogan passed away surrounded by his family.

Hogan was one of the most influential figures in wrestling history and a central force behind WWE’s explosion in global popularity during the 1980s. He headlined the very first WrestleMania in 1985 and remained a dominant name in the sport for decades, battling legends such as Andre the Giant, Randy “Macho Man” Savage, The Rock, and even WWE chairman Vince McMahon.

He captured six WWF/WWE championships and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005, introduced by friend and actor Sylvester Stallone.

In a statement on social media, WWE said it was “saddened to learn” of Hogan’s passing and called him “one of pop culture’s most recognizable figures.”

While reports had circulated in recent months about Hogan’s declining health, sources close to him said he had been recovering from neck surgery performed in May.

Beyond the ring, Hogan became a mainstream celebrity, known for his larger-than-life persona, signature catchphrases, and bleach-blond handlebar mustache. He starred in films, made countless TV appearances, and even had a VH1 reality series, Hogan Knows Best, which chronicled his personal life and family.

Hulk Hogan leaves behind a legacy that helped shape modern professional wrestling and left an indelible mark on global entertainment.
