The City of Calgary, in partnership with RED FM, brings you the “Right Bin for the Win.”
Sorting waste can be tricky, but every decision is crucial, and many might not even know which item goes into which bin.
Green
Green bins are for food scraps and yard waste.
Blue
Your blue bin is for acceptable household paper, cardboard and container packaging.
Black
Items like fruit pouches, chip bags and granola bar wrappers should be placed in the black bin.
On-air, you will have a chance to win prizes and learn which items belong in which bin (blue, green, or black).
Together we can all make a significant impact and become recycling and composting champions!

HOW TO PLAY:
Tune in each weekday from Feb. 3rd to the 28th to play Right Bin for the Win. Once you hear the cue to call, be the eligible fifth caller through. The RED FM host will give you an everyday common household item and ask you which bin it belongs in: Green, Blue, or Black. Answer correctly, and your name goes into the weekly grand prize draw to win 4 movie tickets. If you answer incorrectly, we will go to the next eligible caller until we have a winner.
Complete Contest Rules and Regulations:
- NO PURCHASE NECESSARY
- The contest is open to all residents of Alberta who have reached the age of majority (18) and must have a Canadian Government-Issued Photo ID.
- RED FM will randomly play the cue to call to inform listeners when it’s time to play the contest on-air each weekday from Feb. 3rd to the 28th
- The eligible 5th caller will play Right Bin for the Win
- The RED FM host will ask the caller one question about which bin the household item belongs in. The caller will have a maximum of 15 seconds to answer the question. If the correct answer is given, the caller’s name will be entered into the weekly grand prize draw. If the answer is incorrect, the next eligible caller will get a chance to answer. A maximum of three callers will be taken on air.
- The weekly Grand Prize draw will take place each Friday in February (Feb. 7th, 14th, 21st & 28th)
- Four (4) prizes are available to be won, valued at approximately $100
- Prize is non-negotiable
- The odds of winning will depend upon the total number of entries received after each cue to call
- Contestants may only enter their names once during the entire contest period. Those contestants found entering more than once will have their names disqualified.
- RED FM reserves the right to use the contestant’s images and recorded media in any format for our purposes.
- RED FM is not responsible for any technical problems incurred during the contest by the contestant, Red FM, sponsors or any participants.
