The search for a five-year-old boy missing in the Crowsnest Pass region has stretched into a third day, with no sign of the child despite extensive overnight efforts.

RCMP said Tuesday morning that search teams continued looking for Darius Macdougall through the night but were unable to locate him.

Dozens of crews from Alberta and British Columbia have returned to the area near Island Lake Campground, about four kilometres south of Crowsnest Pass. They are using search dogs, drones, and helicopters, some equipped with thermal imaging technology to aid in night operations.

Darius was last seen Sunday morning while walking with other children in his family.

Authorities say the search remains active and will continue as long as necessary.
