Calgary police are investigating a targeted shooting in Redstone after seven bullets struck a home in the 100 block of Redstone Common N.E. around 10:30 p.m. Saturday. No one was inside at the time and no injuries were reported. Investigators believe the attack was deliberate, with the suspects fleeing before officers arrived. Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The home belongs to Punjabi singer and local businessman Veer Davinder.
Speaking to RED FM, he confirmed that he reported extortion calls to CPS earlier this month, with gangsters allegedly demanding $500,000.
Davinder is well known in the community as both an artist and a small business owner in the construction trades.
This incident follows another targeted shooting Thursday night in Taradale. According to sources, that residence also belongs to an individual working in the construction industry. Police continue to investigate both attacks and are urging anyone with information to contact CPS at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 or through the P3 Tips app.
