Three recall petitions aimed at members of Premier Danielle Smith’s United Conservative Party caucus have failed to gather enough signatures to move forward.

In Red Deer, a campaign targeting Primary Care Minister Adriana LaGrange collected about 2,400 signatures. Organizer Danny Carlisle said on social media that the total represented just over 20 per cent of the more than 11,000 signatures required to trigger a recall vote.

Despite the shortfall, Carlisle said the effort still helped bring attention to concerns within the community.

“We’ve done something Adriana LaGrange has failed to do: listen,” Carlisle wrote on Facebook. “In the dead of winter, we spoke to and acknowledged 2,410 people who’ve been ignored and mistreated by a woman who was elected to listen to them.”

Two other recall campaigns also failed to reach the required threshold. One targeted Culture Minister Tanya Fir, while the other aimed to recall United Conservative backbencher Peter Singh.

Chelsea Barnowich, who led the petition against Fir, said the campaign collected around 2,000 signatures — about 15 per cent of the roughly 13,000 needed to proceed.

Barnowich said that while the petition fell short of the required number, the level of public support demonstrated that many residents wanted their concerns to be heard.
