A tragic incident in northeast Calgary has claimed the life of a young child after she was struck by a vehicle near her home Monday evening.
Emergency crews responded to the scene around 6:55 p.m. on Taradale Drive NE, near Taravista Way, following reports that a toddler had been hit.
According to Calgary police, the two-year-old girl was in a back alley just outside her residence when the collision occurred. She was quickly transported to Alberta Children’s Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The driver involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
Police have confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the crash. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident remains ongoing.
