A man has been charged in connection with multiple extortion cases in Calgary’s northeast.
According to police, in September 2025, a woman reported several extortion attempts and threats to her safety that occurred throughout 2024. Following an investigation, police launched an operation in December 2025 to apprehend the suspects.
It is believed that between August and October 2024, the victim was contacted on six separate occasions by individuals known to her, who demanded money and valuables. She was threatened with acts of violence if she did not comply.
As a result of the operation, 37-year-old Jaspreet Gill of Calgary has been charged with six counts of extortion. He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, April 10, 2026.
Additionally, unrelated to the extortion cases, 28-year-old Harpreet Gill of Calgary has been charged with one count of fraud over $5,000, one count of fraud under $5,000, and two counts of motor vehicle theft. He will appear in court on Monday, April 6, 2026.
